In 2007 our Founder, Tim Salisbury, set out to close the gap between the large number of front-of-house systems (with high-level POS options and beverage buying groups) and the small number of back-of-house kitchen systems to help chefs. 

From humble beginnings in Tim’s spare bedroom in Port Melbourne, My Local Foodie began with just a few venues as clients and a modest $13,000 budget for the first Costimator software.

Now, My Local Foodie are proud to say we have hundreds of venues as our clients and we’ve launched V8 of the Costimator software — the benchmark product helping our chefs to buy better, cost better and continually achieve repeatable menu success.

Tim lives and breathes hospitality – it’s in his DNA. Through seeing first hand how tough the food game can be, he set out to make hospo much easier. 13 years on, My Local Foodie continues to succeed in making every clients’ business profitable. Tim also cooks a mean roast pork belly with his signature Italian-style slaw.

Dan’s come a long way since working as a kitchen hand at Zagames Royal Hotel. From running his own restaurant as Head Chef, to working for a leading meat distributor in Melbourne. Dan knows food and is passionate about helping each of our clients get the very best results from our systems.

Clint was shown the ropes of hotel kitchens and bars by his grandparents who ran a number of hotels across inner Brisbane. From there, he’s gone on to live and breathe hospo. Working in hotels, casinos, QSR, airline catering & foodservice distribution. His favourite dish is an authentic beef rendang from Kuala Lumpur.

Juli Watson

Jules grew up in the farming paradise of East Gippsland, working as a waitress and kitchen hand at Italian Bistro in her home town. So it’s no surprise that her favourite farmers she works with are her family! For over 40 years, and three generations, her family have been ethical and sustainable beef and dairy farmers.

Steph’s appreciation for creating good food started at a very young age, watching and ‘helping’ her Grandfather – a baker by trade – decorate cakes. An avid globetrotter, she likes nothing more than sampling local cuisines on her travels. Her not-so-secret foodie weakness is Italian cuisine.

Chris’ hospitality journey began as a young boy sitting on the stairs of his parents’ restaurant. He’s done it all –  from kitchen hand, wait staff, Food & Beverage Manager of an Island Resort, to Operations Manager of a national restaurant group. His favourite foods are oysters, eye fillet and homemade ice cream.

Once existing on a staple diet of not much more than white bread, Camilla’s eyes were opened to the wonderful world of food when she stepped into the hospo industry in 2006. A cup full of Merivale, a tablespoon of The Boathouse and a dash Montauk brought Camilla, the self-proclaimed foodie, to My Local Foodie.

Joel’s dad was a Chef, so he grew up in kitchens. Every night was a different meal growing up. His passion for food led him to become a Chef himself, specialising in Modern Asian, Mexican and Ice Cream. Joel’s career highlight was owning his own cooking school for 8yrs where he invented new recipes weekly.

Growing up in country NSW, Gabs was spoilt with home grown and locally sourced produce on the dinner table every night. Owing to her Italian roots, every meal is a family occasion that can take days to prepare. Needless to say, her favourite meal is anything made with love, that is shared together with family and friends!

Move over romance novels, science fiction and true crime. Molly’s favourite genre is menus. Her love for reading about food spurred her to sail away from the corporate world and dapple in the world of hospitality. A world where reciting various menu items from restaurants around the globe makes for the ultimate foodie.

Simona originally hails from northern Italy, and before moving to Australia lived in London where she studied IT and worked in hospo. She’s found MLF to be the “perfect mix” of the two. Simona loves spending hours in the kitchen cooking for dinner guests, and enjoys making her own bread, gnocchi, fresh pasta and pizzas.
